Our verdict
The AutoFeed+ 45X changes the job rather than the security level. It is still P-4 cross cut (4 x 28 mm), but you drop up to 45 sheets into the tray, close the door and it feeds itself. That suits a monthly session with a pile of post better than standing at a 10-sheet slot. It also takes credit cards, staples and paper clips. Skip it if you want P-5 pieces; Rexel's AutoFeed+ range has micro-cut models with an M in the name. The variant trap: 45X, 50X, 90X and 100X differ mainly in feed capacity, so check the article number 2020045X.
Useful details
The manual says the loading door can be locked with a 4-digit code, so a half-finished stack is not left open, and the shredder unlocks itself when it finishes or after a period of inactivity. Rexel lists 10 minutes of continuous running from cold with fan cooling and a 55 dBA noise level.
FAQ
Can I put stapled documents in the tray?
Yes, Rexel lists staples and paper clips, but its manual warns against heavy-duty staples, large clips and paper or card above 200gsm.
Does the lock matter at home?
It is handy if children or visitors could reach the tray, or if you leave a stack of statements to shred later.
