Our verdict
The Meross MSS305 does the same basic job as other energy-monitoring plugs: it measures what one appliance uses so you can find standby waste and weekly kWh. Its listing highlights two things that can matter at home: local control on your own network if the internet drops, and compatibility with Alexa and Google Home, with SmartThings named in the title. Meross's own product page is called "MSS305UK" but gives few specifications, so the load rating here (13A, 3,120 W) comes from the Amazon listing.
We could not confirm from Meross's page how the app turns kWh into cost, so plan to do the sum yourself: kWh multiplied by your unit rate in pence. The variant trap is pack size and model: this link is the 1-pack MSS305; Meross also sells 2- and 4-packs and the MSS315, a separate Matter model.
Using it to cost an appliance
Read the kWh total after a day on standby and after a week of normal use, then multiply by the unit rate on your bill. Keep high-draw heaters and EV charging off any plug-in smart socket and check the appliance's rating plate before connecting anything large.
