Our take

Our verdict
The Magna-Tiles Classic 32 is a modest, sensible first set from the brand that started the category. The listing and maker page agree on the contents: 14 small squares, 2 large squares and 16 triangles of three kinds, in translucent colours. Magna-Tiles says its lattice design helps prevent cracking and fastening rivets keep the magnets secure, and that every piece works with its other sets. The limitation is size: with only two large squares, big floors and roofs run out quickly, and the maker itself points to the Classic 100 for bigger builds.
The variant trap: Magna-Tiles sells Classic sets in 32, 37, 74 and 100 pieces, as well as clear-colour and themed sets. This link is the Classic 32.
Care and safety
Wipe tiles clean rather than soaking them. Check them now and then for cracks, and throw away any damaged tile. The OPSS warns that swallowed magnets can cause serious internal injury.
FAQ
Is 32 pieces enough?
Magna-Tiles says it covers the core shapes for houses, towers and patterns. Many families add a second set later.
Will it work with other brands?
Magna-Tiles promises compatibility with its own sets. Other brands may connect, but that is not guaranteed by Magna-Tiles.
