Our verdict
The Cat Mate Elite with timer is the flap to pick when a curfew is the point. Closer Pets says the built-in timer sets curfews and access times, there is a 4-way lock, and the LCD shows which cats are in and the access history. It stores up to 9 cats, reading a 15-digit microchip or the Cat Mate I.D. disc. The trap is chip format: check your cat's number before buying.
Model names are close together. This is the Elite microchip flap with timer (sold by Closer Pets as 355W). The 360 is a larger microchip pet door, and another Elite model works only with the I.D. disc.
Fitting
The maker gives a 145 x 145 mm opening for small to average cats, and says the flap self-lines to 100 mm thick, which covers most doors and glazing. Walls need the Elite Wall Liner sections. It runs on 4 x AA batteries for about 12 months, with a low-battery indicator.

Can neighbourhood cats get in?
Only programmed cats can enter. Any cat can leave, so an intruder that slips in can always get out.
Does it need an app?
No. The timer and settings are on the flap itself.
