Our verdict
The HD 75 is the easy one to cost. The Amazon.co.uk listing gives 100 W, so it uses at most 0.1 kWh an hour and at most 0.3 kWh before its 3-hour auto switch-off; multiply by your unit rate. It is a full-size 180 x 130 cm throw with 6 settings, Beurer's safety system and a removable switch so the throw can go in the washing machine at 30°C. Skip it if you want finer control (6 settings) or a throw large enough for two. The variant trap is the plug: Beurer's own UK site lists the HD 75 with a Euro plug, while this listing names the HD75UK. Buy the UK version and check the plug on arrival; Electrical Safety First says all electric blankets must have a UK 3-pin plug. The HD 75 also comes in several colours and a Nordic faux-fur style.
Care and safety
Remove the hand switch before washing and let the throw dry fully before use. Do not use it folded or creased, and do not use it with a hot water bottle, as Electrical Safety First advises. Check the cable and fabric before each winter.
